There was a time when the members of Team Batgirl took pitching boyfriends. These boyfriends were not intended to be a part of the competition, just for exhibition purposes only. Could we help it if certain pitchers made our hearts go pitter pat? I think not. The whole thing started when Goober stood up and announced that he loved Johan Santana, and he was proud of it. (This is the sort of thing that makes Mike Piazza very, very uncomfortable.) Jeb then called a press conference to announce that he had very special feelings for LaTroy "the Hawk" Hawkins. (This was very big of him, since in 2001 Jeb's feelings for the Hawk were special, but special in a whole different way.) Sooz, of course, still has a strange lust for Kenny Rogers that has nothing to do with his pitching performance. (The thing about Sooz is, she likes them old.) The point is, had the pitching boyfriends been for competition, Goober would have a notch on his belt, as it were. For today the esteemed B.O.D.S.H.C. has decided to give the Boyfriend of the Day award to Johan "the Johaninator" Santana. After being sketchy most of the season, he followed Radke's Radness with a 7 inning, 10 strikeout gem. And that, Johan, makes you the boyfriend of the day.
