Carry On . . .

WRITTEN BY bubblemint

Since the Royals have officially been eliminated from contention, thanks to Terry
Tiffeeeeerific's walk off home run in yesterday's game, I have one more thing I'd like to add...

And now, my fellow Batlings

I submit to you for your reading, listening and/or singing pleasure.

A musical parody.

Bidding a fond adieu to the little team that thought it could.

To the little team who wanted it so badly, before the season began they actually held news conferences assuring their fans that by using their brand new slogan "Together, we can" they would.

This is to that little team from Missouri, the Kansas City Royals, who, in the end, never even had a chance of taking the AL Central Division title from the Minnesota Twins in 2004.

To the tune of the classic Kansas song:

"Carry On Wayward Son".

Royals, now your season's done
It was tough and not much fun
Let your weary players rest

Don't you cry no more

Some said this year was a foregone conclusion
Tony Pena had created some fusion
This team had the stuff to win it
Then at the end of May.

When that umpire called the infield fly rule
Doug Mientkiewicz grabbed that ball, and home he threw
But he didn't see Mike Sweeney
Standing right there in his way!!

Royals, now your season's done
It was tough and not much fun
Let your weary players rest

Don't you cry no more

Hoping maybe they could salvage their season
Thinking they might have a chance for some reason
They headed up to Minnesota
To play the Twins there in July.

Facing Brad, Johan and Kyle, Royals players
Soon confirmed the truth from all the doomsayers
A three complete game shutout series
Is something rarely seen these days

Royals, now your season's done
It was tough and not much fun
Let your weary players rest

Don't you cry no more

No!

Royals fans, you will always remember
Royals fans, those two games in September
That one hit shutout by Santana
Then Tiffee's walk-off sealed your fate.

Royals, now your season's done
It's been tough and not much fun
Let your weary players rest

Don't you cry.

Don't you cry no more!!
