Batgirl was going to do it. She was. She was going to break form and give the Boyfriend of the Day to a pitcher, a starting pitcher--Brad "Rad" Radke of all people. A complete game shut-out? From a purported "staff ace" who has been entirely too whimsical thus far this season? It makes even the stone-cold heart of the fiercely rational B.O.D.S.H.C. melt.

But the shut-out was not to be, as Edgar Martinez took a 3-2 pitch with no outs in the ninth and turned it into a 3-run homer. And when you're facing a guy with a 2.10 ERA, and you crank one of his precious, precious pitches into the upper deck giving your team a 4-0 lead, that, Mr. Douglas Mientkiewicz, makes you Boyfriend of the Day.
